Talk about a Man Cave!
Dick Clark’s Malibu house was put on the market earlier this year (prior to his death on April 18). The style definitely brings “The Flintstones” to life, and according to the architect, Philip John Brown, it was designed to integrate with the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreational Area … a concept the park conservancy liked very much.

I’ve always been a fan of Kevin Bacon — all the way back to his Footloose days — and add to that the fact that he and wife, Kyra Sedgwick, have been married for almost 24 years (practically unheard of in Hollywood circles), well, let’s just say I think he’s one cool cat.

According to the listing description, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote the script for “Good Will Hunting” in this house. The house is charming (though in need of some updating and a little TLC). Wanting to corroborate the script-writing story, I did a little research and really found little to prove or disprove it. Here are a few pieces of information I did find, and then the photos:

My husband and I moved to Charleston, SC, this past June, and we were taking an early evening walk around the Battery after visiting our daughter at work (a beautiful little coffee house on East Bay Street … if you’re ever in town, be sure to stop in at Bakehouse Charleston).
The homes on the Battery are absolutely gorgeous, and we saw that this particular house was for sale. Honestly, it was probably my least favorite as far as design — it’s flanked by much “prettier” houses — at least in my opinion. But it is very intriguing to see what lies behind the brick walls of some of these historic homes.

I’ve always been a HUGE fan of Neil Diamond and got to see him several times in concert over the years. Recently I came across some information about his Malibu house … apparently it was put up for sale in February 2011, though I couldn’t find any information on whether or not it sold (SEE UPDATE AT THE END OF THIS POST). The actual listing was nowhere to be found, but after some lengthy research, I was able to find the photos and property description:

One of the houses I was always fascinated by was the “Mork and Mindy” house. The show ran for four seasons on ABC, from 1978 through 1982. The exterior shots of the house where Mork and Mindy lived in an upstairs apartment were of a real house located at 1619 Pine Street in Boulder, CO, which is still one of the most popular landmarks in Boulder. Here is a photo of the house as it looked in 2010, courtesy of the Love Boulder blog:

I moved to Boulder in the fall of 1980 with my then husband, and of course had to have a picture to show I was there. That picture is somewhere in a box (I recently moved to Charleston, SC with my forever husband, and while I saw the photo when packing, I cannot for the life of me find it now. I’ll update this post when I do!) In the meantime, enjoy some more photos of the house in its “older” days and some interior shots from the show.

Located in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan, this tiny little house (measuring in at just 594.598 square feet) makes great use of the construction footprint, and it’s quite deceiving from the outside. I think it has a bit of an awkward and not particularly attractive facade, but what you’ll find inside is surprising.
